Beaver advances to championship

Butler, PA - In the second game on the day at the 2012 PSUAC playoffs, Beaver defeated Greater Allegheny by a score of 8-1.

Zack DelTurco (Monaca, Monaca High School) started the contest on the hill for Beaver and he was dominant. DelTurco threw the complete game, giving up just one run on only four hits while striking out eight batters.

The Beaver offense got going early in the game, scoring three in the first inning, then added two more in the third and three more in the fifth.

The offense was led by Markus Allen (New Castle, Union), and Tom Lewis (Aliquippa, Hopewell) as they each had three hits. Lewis and DelTurco each had two RBI. DelTurco and Grant Scott (Sewickley, Ann Arbor Pioneer) also had two hits each. DelTurco blasted a two-run home run in the third and both Lewis and Garrett Covalt (Aliquippa, Hopewell) had a triple in the first inning.

Beaver will now play of Saturday for the PSUAC conference championship. The first game is scheduled for 12pm and if Beaver wins a second game would occur following game one.
