MONT ALTO, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology men's basketball team lost 72-52 to Penn State Mont Alto Saturday. The Wildcats had the lead most of the second period, but made some costly turnovers to allow Mont Alto to run away with the 20-point victory. Sophomore Scott Fenton (Dickson City) led with 14 points while freshman Parris Wragg (Baltimore, Md.) added 10 rebounds. The loss drops the team to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
In the second, two good free throws from sophomore Jesse Newman (Waterfall) started a 7-0 run to give Penn College the 34-29 lead at 14:16. The team held onto the lead over the next 12 minutes until they committed four consecutive turnovers allowing the Lions to capitalize and take lead and eventually the win.
Turnovers continue to be a problem for the Wildcats as they committed 28 in the game.
Mont Alto opened up with game with a 4-0 run before two free throws from Fenton put the Wildcats on the board. Mont Alto led as high as 13 in the half, but the Wildcats clawed back to bring it to 27-26 at the break.
As a team, Penn College was strong at charity stripe going 14-20 (.700).
Next up, the Wildcats travel to Williamson Trade on Monday, Dec. 3 for a 7 p.m. game.
