Penn College Scores Three in the Second Half to Defeat Mt. Aloysius College
CRESSON, Pa. – Three second half goals lifted the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Mount Aloysius College Thursday. Junior Christopher Brennan (New Hope), sophomore Jose Gomez-Zavala (Kennett Square) and freshman Tarik LaRoche (Milton) each notched a goal in the win. The game was highly physical with six cards being given out. The win improves the Wildcats to 5-1-1 overall.
Mount Aloysius' Daniel Oliveira put his team up 1-0 with a goal in the 36th. Senior goalkeeper David Munn (Athens) made three saves in the half to keep the Wildcats close. He ended the game with four.
Out of the break, LaRoche tied it up in the 54th and just seven minutes later Brennan took a pass from junior Phil Bair (Harrisburg) into the net giving Penn College the lead. Gomez-Zavala provided some cushion in the 74th with an unassisted goal.
A good penalty kick from Austin Old made the game 3-2 in the 87th but the Wildcats were able to hold on for the victory.
Penn College outshot the Mounties 14-13 in the game.
Next up, the Wildcats travel to Penn State Beaver on Saturday, Sept. 22 for a 2 p.m. game.
