AKRON, OH- Led by Honorable Mention All-American first-baseman Meghan Dulaney, #1 seeded Carlow University defeated #8 seeded Penn State Mont Alto by a score of 7-2 in first round action. All-American Emily Pritts pitched seven innings giving up two runs (one earned) and striking out 10. Kelly Constantini, Sam Kemock, and All-American Shelby Rodgers added two hits apiece for a Lady Celtics team that had 10 hits total.
Penn State Mont Alto got off to an early 2-0 lead, but a series of errors in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings led to six unearned Celtic runs. Honorable Mention All-American Jessica Miller pitched six innings for the Lady Beavers giving up seven runs (1 earned) and added two of her team's six hits. Carlow University will move on to face fifth-seeded Briarcliffe College at 6:00 PM while Penn State Mont Alto will take on Saint Mary of the Woods at 6:00 PM on the Pony Field.
