The Penn State DuBois Women's Basketball team (1-0) won its season opener as they topped the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville, 69-47 on Wednesday night.
The Lady Lions jumped out to a 39-14 halftime lead and never let the lead drop below 15 points in the second half to secure the win. "I felt that the girls really stepped it up defensively tonight and we controlled the tempo of the game by controlling the boards." "The girls worked together and played as a team tonight." stated DuBois coach Pat Lewis.
The Lady Lions were led by Karly Carnovale (Elk County Catholic) as she scored 21 points and 7 assists and Karlee Cyphert (North Clarion) who posted a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Patience McCullough (Purchase Line) hit for 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Kiley Lewis (Cameron County) hauled in 13 rebounds and Jordan Fairman (DuBois HS) hit double figures with 10 points. Linsey Mizic scored 5 points to round out the scoring.
