GLENSIDE, Pa. - Freshman Jamie Steer (South Williamsport) totaled nine points while sophomore Jenna Matzinger (Coudersport) added 10 boards in the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team's 83-44 loss to Arcadia University. The Wildcats struggled in the field shooting 15-61 (.246) but had a good day on the free throw line at 13-26 (.500). The loss evens out the team's record to 1-1 overall.
In the first half, Matzinger hit back-to-back buckets in the 14th to pull Penn College ahead of the Knights 6-5. They would counter with an 8-0 run to take a 13-6 lead with just over 11 minutes left. Sophomore Mackenzie Brown (Lititz) and senior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) each took a trip to the charity stripe in the eighth going 2-2 and bringing the score to within seven. The Knights ended the half on a 12-0 run, going into the break with the 41-17 advantage.
In the half, the Wildcats shot 4-29 (.138) but were better from the line going 9-14 (.643).
Arcadia cruised in the second half building up its lead to as big as 40.
In the game, Penn College totaled 48 rebounds. Sophomore Dana Reed (Sunbury) had eight rebounds and eight points.
Next up, the Wildcats to Central Penn College on Saturday, Nov. 17 for a 1 p.m. game.
