Steer Leads with 23 as Wildcats Improve to 2-0 in PSUAC


MONT ALTO, Pa. – Senior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) totaling 23 points to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team to a 65-39 win over Penn State Mont Alto Saturday. Sophomore Jenna Matzinger (Coudersport) helped nothing a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. The win is the second consecutive for the Wildcats as they improve to 2-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and 4-3 overall.  


Penn College opened the game on an 8-0 run, three from Matzinger. Down 20-10 with minutes left, the Lions came back with a 9-2 run to bring it to 22-19 at the break.


The Wildcats came out firing opening with another 8-0 in the second, three from freshman Danielle Mowery (Shamokin), and this time never looked back outscoring Mont Alto 43-20 in the half. Steer poured it on with 16 points leading the way.


For the game, Penn College totaled 31 rebounds to the Lions' 38.


Also for the Wildcats, sophomore Mackenzie Brown (Lititz) had 10 points.


Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Wilkes Barre on Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m.
