Women’s Basketball: Strong Second Half Leads Elmira Over Wildcats 63-42
Elmira, N.Y. – Freshman Jamie Steer (South Williamsport) scored 13 and senior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) added 10 as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team lost 63-42 to Elmira College Saturday. The Wildcats had the lead for most of the first half, but could not hold on in the second. The loss evens the team out to 5-5 overall while Elmira improves to 4-5.
Sophomore Mackenzie Brown (Lititz) hit a layup to cap off a 4-0 run to start off the game for Penn College. The Eagles took the lead for the first time in the 14th when Liz Forrest hit a three. Eight lead changes ensued before the Eagles ended the period on a 7-0 run to go into the break up 31-24.
Brown ended the game with nine points and five blocks.
In the second half, the Wildcats brought the score to within two twice but Elmira maintained the lead the entire period and built up the lead to as high as 22 before ending it with the 21 point advantage.
For the game, Penn College shot 14-40 (.350) from the field and were out-rebounded 41-35. Sophomore Dana Reed (Sunbury) had a team-leading seven rebounds.
