The Penn State DuBois Women's Basketball team (4-6) traveled to the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville and captured a 71-61 win on Wednesday night.
The Lady Lions held a 33-28 halftime and held off a strong surge by Pitt-Titusville in the second half to secure the win. "I felt that we started controlling the boards late in the second half of the game and that is when we finally put the game away. Pitt-Titusville played as a stronger unit than when we played them the first time, so this was a good win for us." stated DuBois coach Pat Lewis.
The Lady Lions were lead by Patience McCullough's (Purchase Line) double-double as she tallied a career high 25 points while hauling in 13 rebounds. Karly Carnovale (Elk County Catholic) had another strong night with 21 points. Kiley Lewis (Cameron County) hauled in 13 rebounds and chipped in 8 points. Karlee Cyphert (North Clarion) handed out 9 assists pulled down 6 rebounds while Nikki Hurler (Cowanesque Valley) had 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Linsey Mizic (Pottsgrove) nailed two three pointers and finished with 8 points. Jordan Fairman (DuBois HS) scored 5 points to round out the scoring.
