UNIONTOWN, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team came up just short in its 90-83 loss to Penn State Fayette Sunday. Freshman Jamie Steer (South Williamsport) led with 33 points while sophomore Jenna Matzinger (Coudersport) added 17. The loss drops the team to 11-9 overall and 6-5 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
Fayette led throughout the entire first half opening on a 10-4 run. The Wildcats countered with a 6-0 run, four from Jamie Steer, to tie it with just over 13 remaining.
The Lions went into the half up 42-35 shooting 7-14 (.500) from beyond the arc. Penn College shot 10-24 (.420) from the field.
In the second, the game was tight and in the closing minutes some unforced turnovers led the seven point loss.
Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State York on Tuesday, Feb. 5 for a 6 p.m. game.
