Baseball Hitter of the Week 9
Grant Lillard, Penn State DuBois
Grant Lillard stepped up big for Penn State DuBois in the baseball championship tournament. Lillard finished two games batting 4-for-6 with four RBI. Lillard had two extra base hits, including a home run in the championship game's first inning to put his team in the lead. He added a two-run single in the fourth to pad his team's lead. Lillard also manned the catcher position for both games, helping his pitching staff allow just two runs in 14 innings.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week 9
Connor Cherry, Penn State DuBois
Connor Cherry clinched his team's championship on Monday, throwing a gem against Penn State Mont Alto. Cherry went 6.2 innings, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out five for Penn State DuBois. Cherry didn't face trouble until the seventh when he allowed two-baserunners. Despite being relieved for his team's final out, Cherry allowed no runs and picked up the clincing win to the tune of a .75 WHIP.
Softball Hitter of the Week 9
Lexi Bussenger, Penn State Brandywine
Lexi Bussenger continued her tear through the 2024 season, finishing 4-for-6 during the PSUAC Softball Championship series and scoring four runs. Bussenger also drove in two runs to push her team over Penn State Mont Alto for their ninth straight title. Bussenger has hit safely in all 43 games she has appeared in this season, a PSUAC record. She will look to complete the season on a high note in next week's USCAA Small College World Series, where she could extend her hit streak.
Softball Pitcher of the Week 9
April Lewandowski, Penn State Brandywine
April Lewandowski picked up the championship clinching win for Penn State Brandywine softball on Monday, going five innings and allowing just four hits. Lewandowski escaped trouble late in the game, shutting down a Mont Alto rally in the fifth. Lewandowski sat down Penn State Mont Alto in order in three of her five innings and faced a bases-loaded jam with just one out in the fifth before forcing a foul out and ground out to close out the 8-0 win.
