WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10

Dariana Perez, Penn State Mont Alto

Third Year

Harris, Texas

Guard Dariana Perez scored 67 points in two games this past week. Perez helped lead her team to victory with a 40-point, 14-rebound outburst against Penn State Hazleton and scored 27 points in a non-conference victory over Trinity Washington. Perez went to the free throw line 17 times against Hazleton, making 15, and shot over 55 percent from the field and behind the arc. Perez leads the conference, averaging 26.1 points per game.

MEN’S BASKEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK 10

Fhenyx Scutt, Penn State Scranton

Fourth Year

Abington, Pa. 

Guard Fhenyx Scutt led Penn State Scranton to two home wins against Penn State Lehigh Valley (97-90) and Penn State Schuylkill (105-100)l, during the week. He scored a combined 48 points in the games with eight three-pointers. Against Lehigh Valley, it was 17 points, along with five rebounds, three assists and a steal. During the game against Schuylkill he reached 1,000 career points and finished with a game-high 31 points, his second 30-point game of the season.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Noah Payne, Penn State Fayette

First Year

Penn State Fayette guard Noah Payne helped catapult his team to the top of the West Division standings with two big wins last week. Payne scored 12 points in a win over Penn State New Kensington, then added 19 in a thrilling 88-87 road win over Penn State Shenango. Payne finished the week 5-for-12 from behind the arc, accounting for nearly half his points. Payne also averaged three assists and 1.5 steals per game as Fayette now sits at 8-4 in PSUAC play.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Penn State Scranton Men's Basketball

The Penn State Scranton men's basketball team went 2-0 on the week, creating additional separation in the playoff seeding race with their two opponents. Scranton opened with a 97-90 home win over Penn State Lehigh Valley and added 105-100 victory against Penn State Schuylkill. Jaiden Wiggins and Elijah Bryant led the way as both players notched 20-point performances in both games. The team moved into sole possession of third place in the East Division.
