Rookie of the Week

Alyssa Crankfield, Penn State Shenango

First Year

Youngstown, Oh.

Despite three close losses last week, Penn State Shenango's Alyssa Crankfield provided significant contributions to her team. The first year forward set a career-high with 20 points and 11 rebounds against Penn State Fayette. Four days later, Crankfield eclipsed her career-high in points with 21 against Penn State Scranton. Overall, Crankfield averaged nearly 17 points and nine rebounds per game.

Women's Basketball Player of the Week 8

Karma Paez, Penn State Scranton

Second Year

Northridge, Ca.

Penn State Scranton guard Karma Paez averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this last week, helping lead her team to an important conference win on the road against Penn State Shenango. Paez played all 40 minutes in each of her games, scoring 25 points in the win at Shenango that included shooting 8-for-15 from the field and three triples. Paez added 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game in the two conference contests.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week 8

Izzy Santiago, Penn State Shenango

Izzy Santiago picked up another Player of the Week award this season on the strength of scoring his 1,000th career point on Tuesday against Penn State Fayette. Santiago averaged 26 points per game over three games and contributed 9.3 rebounds per game. Santiago picked up a season-high 14 rebounds in a loss Saturday against Penn State Scranton while pouring in 34 points. Santiago added 27 points in the game against Fayette and shot 50 percent from the field during the week.
