SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK 2

Aryanna Bodge, Penn State Schuylkill

Second Year

Pottstown, Pa.

Over six games, Aryanna Bodge pitched 20 innings, helping improve Penn State Schuylkill softball to 3-3. She had an impressive 1.05 ERA with 26 strikeouts and just five walks. She threw a complete game against Cedar Crest as Schuylkill won, 7-1 to pick up one of her two wins in four appearances. Bodge also had a .368 average with a home run and four RBI at the plate.

SOFTBALL HITTER OF THE WEEK 2

Jayde Rivera, Penn State New Kensington

Third Year

Dover, Del.

Infielder Jayde Rivera led the Penn State New Kensington offense this week with a .500 batting average. Rivera had 10 hits in 20 at-bats across eight games. She smacked five doubles, drove in five RBI and accounted for 15 total bases. Rivera drew five walks and did not strike out once in 28 total plate appearances.

Aidan Barner, Penn State Schuylkill

Lykens, Pa.

Pitcher Aiden Barner appeared in four games and went 2-1 during the week. He worked eight innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out seven and giving up three walks. He compiled a 1.13 ERA for his work during the week.

Dominic Fornataro, Penn State Shenango

Second Year

New Castle, Pa.

Centerfielder Dominic Fornataro led Penn State Shenango with a consistent and stellar performance on both sides of the ball across eight games in Myrtle Beach. He racked a total of eight hits and eight walks, finishing with a .421 batting average, .593 on base percentage. He also had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 15 putouts.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Tyler Houk, Penn State Shenango

First Year

New Castle, Pa.

Tyler Houk was outstanding on the mound for Penn State Shenango in Myrtle Beach this past week. In his first two collegiate games, Houk threw seven scoreless innings, recording 11 strikeouts and allowing six hits. After earning his first career win against New River Community College with four scoreless innings, Houk would return to the rubber three days later, throwing three more scoreless innings against Minnesota-Itasca on the way to his first career save.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Penn State New Kensington Softball

Penn State New Kensington Softball played eight games in the opening week when they put together a strong start to the season. New Kensington went 5-3, which included thre wins over NCAA Division III teams in a heavy non-conference start to their schedule. So far this season, New Kensington strong offense leads PSUAC conference teams in hits, runs, doubles, triples, RBIs, stolen bases, batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage.
