PSUAC Campuses to Participate in 2nd Annual 3's for THON Initiative
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Many of 14 PSUAC member campuses will participate in the second annual "3's for THON" initiative slated to take place over the next two weeks. The event is hosted by the PSUAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and promotes campuses to partner with their campus THON committees to raise awareness and funds at home basketball events.
The event was first hosted in 2020 and had 10 campuses participate and raise more than $7,000 for THON, the world's largest student run philanthropy, which benefits the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children's Hospital. THON is a dance marathon fundraiser hosted annually in mid-February at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.
Campuses that participate will host awareness efforts and fundraisers for THON at home men's and women's basketball games over the next two weeks and donate all proceeds to their campus THON group. Each campus chooses its own events, which have included information tables, collection jars, raffles, auctions, "gold outs" and contests, as well as seeking sponsors to participate in the activity that gave the actual name of the event--donating money for each three-pointer made during a specified game or week.
The PSUAC SAAC is a conference-wide, student-led organization comprised of student-athletes from each member campus. The group is in charge of creating conference-wide initiatives and has led events that include 3's for THON, SAAC Spirit Week and Volunteer Week. Below are participating campuses and planned dates for their events. For more information please check the social media pages and websites of each individual campus.
