PSUAC Adopts Changes to Basketball Playoff Format
UPDATES ADDED JANUARY 21, 2022
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference Council of Athletic Directors has approved a new format for the PSUAC men's and women's basketball playoffs, effective for the 2021-2022 season only. All teams will participate in the 2022 playoffs, instead of just four per division.
The changes come in response to issues raised by the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts on the regular season. To alleviate those challenges, the Conference Office and Council of Athletic Directors elected to offer opportunities to all programs in men's and women's basketball for the 2022 postseason.
The first two rounds of the playoffs will be intra-divisional, with the first cross-divisional play occurring during the semifinals, which is consistent with the previous structure of the tournament. The tournament will begin with the first found on Saturday, February 19th and continue with quarterfinal games being played on Monday, February 21st. Semifinals will be contested on Wednesday, February 23rd, and the championship games will be played on Saturday, February 26th at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.
The full playoff schedule is available on the Championship pages for men's basketball and women's basketball.
