2026 PSUAC Basketball Championships to be Played in Historic Rec Hall

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference announced today that its 2026 Men's and Women's Basketball Championship games will be played at historic Rec Hall on the University Park campus.

The nearly 100 year old venue will play host on Monday, February 23rd, with the women's title game starting at 4:30 p.m. and the men's tilt to start at 7:15 p.m.

"We are excited to maintain our ability to offer a first-class experience to our championship participants," said PSUAC Commissioner Ryan Ehrie. "We've long prioritized the opportunity to provide access to our championship participants to Penn State's world-class athletic facilities, and we are thankful for our hosts from the Division I department."

The PSUAC Basketball Championships have generally been held on the University Park campus in the Bryce Jordan Center, with some exceptions for conflicts at the venue. In years past, games were moved to campus locations. Despite a conflict at the Jordan Center this year, the recent updates to Rec Hall provided an opportunity for the PSUAC to continue to host its championships on the University Park campus.

Rec Hall, which was home to Penn State's basketball teams until 1996, has primarily hosted men's and women's gymnastics, men's and women's volleyball and wrestling in recent years. Penn State's Division I basketball programs implemented a "Return to Rec" series several years ago with a basketball floor being installed on top of the main gym floor; more recently, Penn State's Division I women's basketball team made a move to play more games at Rec Hall and the main floor was refinished with a basketball court permanently marked in the center, allowing for basketball to be played more often in the venue.

"Having access to these facilities is one thing that makes being a part of Penn State so great," added Ehrie. "We have gotten to know so many of the staff over the years and they've welcome our teams and been gracious hosts. We're excited to continue to add to PSUAC Championship lore in such a historic venue."

Rec Hall is a well-known venue for another sport in the PSUAC, as it has hosted the PSUAC Women's Volleyball Championship for more than 15 years.

The PSUAC Basketball Championship Tournaments will begin on Sunday, February 15th and conclude with the championship games on the 23rd. The first three rounds of the postseason will be played at the court of the higher seed in each game, with Rec Hall hosting the final two teams in each sport. Penn State Mont Alto men's basketball and Penn State Beaver women's basketball are the defending champions.

More information is available for our championships at www.psuacsports.com. Fan and spectator information for Rec Hall will be available approximately one week prior to the championship games.
