Men Fall to DII Fairmont State

Fairmont, WV-  The Penn State Beaver men's basketball team lost their first game of the year 2012, falling 115-69 to Division II Fairmont State (4-6).

In the first half, the Falcons opened the game up scoring the first 7 points.  From that point, Fairmont use the three pointer to build an early 29-9 lead (at the 15 minute mark).  Beaver then came alive, making a run of their own, cutting the lead to 39-30 at the 8 minute mark.  From that point on, Fairmont continued the 3 point barrage, marking 10-16 in the first half, building a 59-36 half time lead.  In the second half, the Falcons continued to rain three, hitting 10 of 21 3 point attempts.

In the loss, Beaver was led in scoring by Junior Julian Taylor (Rochester/Rochester, PA).  Taylor was 5 of 7 from the field and 8 of 12 from the foul line, scoring 18 points on the game.  Junior Nick Miller (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) added 13.

The Lions now sit at 7-4 overall and 5-1 in the PSUAC.  Beaver will return to action on Saturday, January 7th, when they host Grove City College.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
