Second Half Collapse Dooms Women's Basketball

Du Bois, Pa- Heading into the break up 40-28, the Greater Allegheny Women seemed poised to win their fifth straight PSUAC game; a win that would've have allowed them to remain only a single game back in the standings.  However, GA would score just 19 points in the second half, and eventually fell to Penn State Du Bois (11-4, 7-1) 70-59.

  Freshman Guard Taylor McCallister (Norwin) led GA on offense scoring 17 points, while grabbing 6 rebounds.  Two other women would score in double-figures, as Sophomore Guards Megan Brinkos (McKeesport) and Monica Poupakis (West Mifflin) scored 14 and 10, respectively.  Freshman Forward Christna Floyd (St. John Neumann) was a terror on the glass, recording 14 rebounds, with 9 of them being offensive.

  The tough setback leaves the GA women with a 6-10 overall record, but are still in the PSUAC playoff hunt, with a 5-3 conference mark.  They will now travel out east for a weekend swing of PSUAC contests, beginning with a January 27th game at Penn State Wilkes-barre. Tip-off is set for 6 PM.
