LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – Penn State Fayette's Lady Roaring Lions used a 13-2 run midway through the first period to take control and coasted to an 80-41 win of Penn State Schuylkill in PSUAC women's basketball action on Dec. 8 in the Lion's Den.
With Fayette leading 12-7, freshman Tara Neely (Morgantown, W.Va.) started the run by drilling a three from the right corner. Three minutes later, the lead was 16 when Kaitlyn Novak hit a pair of free throws.
From there, Fayette never looked back and led 48-20 at halftime.
Caitlin Wontroba (Uniontown, Pa.) led all scorers with 18 points, including three three-pointers. Shannon Flament (Charleroi, Pa.) added 12, Neely 11 and Kasey Ruble (Fairchance, Pa.) 10 for the Roaring Lions (2-3, 2-0).
Ruble grabbed eight rebounds and dished out seven assists. Carly Gruss (Johnstown, Pa.) collected eight rebounds.
