McKeesport, Pa- Despite a stand-out effort from sophomore guard Taylor Fulton (West Mifflin, PA/West Mifflin), the Penn State Greater Allegheny's women's basketball team lost in a PSUAC conference match-up against Penn State Hazleton, 56-52.
PSUGA triumphed in the second half, as they outscored their opponent 29-27. Buckets were earned all around the floor from sophomore guard Ciera Hussey (Philadelphia, PA/Overbrook), freshman guard Shelby Bendick (McKeesport, PA/McKeesport), and sophomore guard Nakayla Layne (Pittsburgh, PA/Taylor Allerdice).
Fulton earned 11 points in the first half, earning her other 15 points scored in the second. Her efforts were tremendous from the free-throw line, as she cashed in on all eight attempted. She totaled seven rebounds, made five steals and dished out five assists.
Sophomore forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, PA/Sts. Neumann-Gorett) grabbed 10 rebounds and notched eight points to the tally. Layne also contributed eight points for the blue and white.
Greater Allegheny will have a day of rest before they are back at Wunderley Gymnasium for another conference match-up. Game time versus Penn State Fayette is set for Monday at 6 p.m.
