Wrestling: Hart MEC Champion as Seven Wildcats Qualify for NCWA Nationals

 

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology hosted the Mid-East Conference Championships Saturday with 15 teams and 91 wrestlers in attendance. Freshman Ryan Hart (Wyalusing) won the 133 class and sophomore Logan Gresock (Wadsworth, Ohio) was runner up in 174. The Wildcats placed third as a team behind champion University of Maryland – Baltimore County and second place Penn State DuBois. The tournament is also a qualifier for the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Championships. In addition to Hart and Gresock making the cut, junior Tyler Myers (Centre Hall), sophomores Austin Clark (Elysburg) and Paul Crutchlow and freshmen Daniel Frankenfield (Dushore) and Alexander Muller (Sparta, N.J.) all earned berths.

 

Myers placed third at 157 taking down fellow conference rival Shane Alterio. Crutchlow also came in third at 184 and teammate Muller was sixth in the same class. Rounding out the place finishers were Clark in fourth at 165 and Frankenfield in fifth at 174.

 

The Wildcats will have a little less than two weeks to prep for the March 14th championships held this year in Allen, Texas.
