La Roche, PA- Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions win against the Hiram College Terriers during the La Roche College Tournament.
The Lions opened the half with the first point within a minute by Chris Weathers (New Brighton, PA / New Brighton). Hiram was able to answer the point almost immediately but Beaver's momentum had already built. Beaver's Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, PA / Penn Hills), Corey Nesmith (Midland, PA / Beaver), and Chris Best (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Ford) all led the half with 13, 7, and 8 points respectively.
Beaver led the half with 49 points over Hiram's 27. Beaver's defense also played strong stopping majority of Hiram's attempts.
In the second half Beaver scored point after point until the 15:17 mark when Hiram finally scored. Hiram was able to bring the score to 60-40 but Agurs would end their point streak with layup. The score would then fluctuate back and forth but Beaver held the lead throughout the remainder of the half but Hiram scored more frequently. Beaver's Agurs, Weathers, and Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, PA / Beaver Falls) led this half in points giving Beaver the win, 87-74.
Beaver has an overall record of 2-1 and faces La Roche College next on Wednesday, November 20th at 8 p.m.
