Men’s Soccer: Wildcats Capitalize on Own Goal to Defeat PSU York 1-0

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –With the help of nine saves from senior keeper David Munn (Athens), the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team defeated Penn State York 1-0 in conference action Saturday. Penn College's winning goal came in the 27th when sophomore Christopher Rutledge (Macungie) crossed a pass that the York defense accidentally kicked in. With the win, Penn College improves to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

 

The Wildcats had the slight edge outshooting York 12-9. York regrouped after the break and controlled play for most of the second half notching 12 shots. Munn made five saves in the half to keep the Wildcats on top.

 

The loss is the first in the PSUAC for the Lions that fall to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

 

Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Beaver on Tuesday, Sept. 24 for a 7 p.m. match.
